MacMail Configuration

How to configure MacMail with BendTel Mail Server Settings.

Configuring Mac Mail

  • With the Mac Mail application window open and selected, click on the “Mail” menu and select “Preferences…”

  • In the new window that opens, select the “Accounts” tab.
      • Make sure that the “Incoming Mail Server” is set to mail.bendtel.net
      • Make sure that the “User Name” is your full email address. This must be in all lower case.

  • In the same window, click on the “Server Settings” button. In the new popup window, set or verify the following:
      • Make sure that “Outgoing Mail Server” is set to mail2.bendtel.net
      • Make sure that “Server Port” is set to 587
      • Make sure that “Use Secure Sockets Layer” is checked
      • Make sure that “Authentication” is set to Password
      • Make sure that “User Name” has your full email address in lower case and “Password” has your regular email password.
Click “OK” to close this popup window.

  • Click on the “Advanced” tab and set or verify the following settings:
      • Make sure that “Port” is set to either 110 or 995 for POP3 accounts or 143 or 993 for IMAP accounts.
      • Make sure that “Use SSL” is checked.
      • Make sure that “Authentication” is set to Password

  • Close the Preferences window. You should now be able to send or recieve email.

If you continue to experience difficulty, you may need to click on “Mailbox” in the top menubar and select “Take all accounts Online”. If that does not resolve the issue, you may need to close and then restart Mail for settings changes to take effect.
